Project Management Degree Online - Plan Your Way To The Top

Are you interested in completing your Project Management Degree Online?
And what does a career in Project Management involve?

Well as the name implies you will be planning and executing projects within an organization. You will hold a position of great responsibility and competition for positions in the top firms will be fierce. So what will your specific duties look like:-

Assign responsiblities to appropriate parties

Creating a budget for a project and making sure people stick to it

Creating detailed progress reports for upper management

Directing and leading a team to complete a project

Following up and making sure things proceed according to schedule

Differing qualifications are required depending on the industry you choose to enter. For example, software project management will be markedly different to managing construction projects. Although there is a huge variety of certificates and degrees you may wish to take, the main criteria for being hired as a project manager is..experience, usually a minimum of five years.

You will find that most project managers are hired from within a company. You will also find that many organizations will offer to pay for some if not all of tuition fees, should you wish to complete a Project Management degree online. This will of course develop your managerial credentials.

Project Managers who specialize in construction, software and web design will always be in high demand. Although the type of field that you work in can vary immensely, the Project Management Institute commisioned a survey in 2006 and found that the average earnings for Project managers was $96,000 per year.

Before investing in degree programs that entice prospective students with exactly how much money they could be making, it wouldn't hurt to ask the school how many of their graduates actually enter the profession their study was designed for.

"Well as the name implies you will be planning and executing projects within an organization."

"Will" is too strong of a word here, since not every graduate of a project management program will manage projects. I once was interested in obtaining a degree in electronic entertainment, but I was shocked to find that roughly 20% of their graduates moved on to industry positions, while the largest set of their graduates were employed by the school itself. Yes, it was a fine program, but I believe the incentives were exaggerated. I could go on and on.

Thank you for this post! Project management is one of the best degrees one can go for and so much is learned through it. I understand many go to college to make more money in the long run but what plays a part the most here are life experience degrees. Most should not go to college to make the most money, but to learn and get a job doing what you love most. I went to college to progress in my field and I plan on going back to school one day to pick up something else. When choosing what degree you want, make sure to choose the best college to get that degree at. Once again, thank you for this exciting post. Hope this finds you and many well. Have a great day!
